A couple of years ago I was invited by a colleague to attend Blind Mule Behavioral Services week-long classroom management summer camp. It was the summer before my first full year of teaching, and I was incredibly anxious about all the big and little things I did not feel ready for. One of those things was classroom management. In theory, I knew what a classroom with effective classroom management should look like, unfortunately I did not have the practice, yet, to match my vision.

My colleague promised me that one precious week of my summer with Glenn Dyke and his team at Blind Mule Behavioral Services would be time well spent. She was right.

Blind Mule has figured out the secret and done what I thought may be impossible. They have combined quality training on classroom management with an engaging and interactive presentation. It is brilliant and refreshing to be in a training where I was able to practice skills and strategies in real time.

I had never been to a training that was so hands on with regular involvement and interaction with the instructors. It was an extremely effective training because I was able to commit to memory the new strategies by rehearsing them with several of the colleagues I work with. We also collaborated and brainstormed how to best implement these effective strategies in our classrooms and build a critical foundation for learning and an ethos of academic rigor. As every educator knows, that critical foundation is and will always be effective classroom management.

At Blind Mule Behavioral Services, each instructor comes with an impressive resume of relevant credentials. They know what they are talking about and they have the practical experience and examples to back it up. The team seems to love what they do. Their enthusiasm is contagious. Glenn, Aspen, Rebecca and Nicole made the training fun with prize drawings and intermittent dance breaks, snacks and upbeat personalities. Before I knew it the week had flown by. Let's be honest, it's hard to say that about every training opportunity. That's what makes Blind Mule so unique.

Since that summer, I have learned through experience that there is a definite demarcation of brilliant book smart professionals who know what to teach and brilliant public speaking professionals who know how to teach. Rarely do you find a company staffed with professionals that can cover both quality content and engaging presentation in a single course. Blind Mule has the magic formula and they don’t even need a patent, because they are one of a kind and can’t be duplicated.

Recently, my family and I moved. I started teaching in a new school district. When the opportunity was presented to attend Blind Mule's classroom management summer camp for a second time, I jumped at the chance. The refresher course was invaluable and a great way to get to know new co-workers and work together with them in the safe learning environment provided during this camp.

I feel strongly that every novice and veteran teacher alike would find something new and valuable to add to their portfolio of best practices by attending Blind Mule’s classroom management summer camp. The investment pays for itself in innumerable ways.

My first year of teaching, I entered the classroom with confidence and an arsenal of strategies that I knew would work, because I had seen them in action. I was ready for my classroom management practice to finally match my vision and I was confident that my students were going to get my best. Thanks to Blind Mule Behavioral Services, I had a lot to offer.
